two collisions with virus at the center.

+++++

i. collision of paranoia and pandemic

when your loved one in the passenger seat
turns over after crossing
the second state line
and describes a lump in their throat
their head in the sky
and you fall down that hole.
the possibilities. in your left ear
             a buzz :
at what point is it too late
to turn back? is it too late to cry?

             in your right a breath :
                          your brother after all
                          has graduated
                          fifteen years
                          and you were once
                          so close

+++++

ii. collision of changing seasons

and when you come home feeling in your own
throat a lump and feel your own head floating
floating
at what point is it too late to act?
a technician after all fished around and found
                         nothing.
Negative.
                                  nothing wrong with you.
                                  it is that season after all.
