I look out on
the sun blotted garden
recovering
from so much darkness.
Despite rain, the green
is only partly there.
This late in the season
small blooms struggle for sun.
The ground is wet now
like the back of an animal
that has worked
invisibly trying
to break Earth open
once more,
bleeding darkness.
