A linen replica of Le Cantique de Frère Soleil ou des créatures par Saint François d’Assise

All powerful and good—you, the up-above—I give you praise, glory, honour, and all benediction;
They answer only to you, O holiness, yet no one may dain to name you.

You are bestowed, my Lord mon seigneur
, with all your creatures especially, my lord messire
, Brother Soleil, through whom seeps to us the light of day;
It is beautiful, in rays of great splendour,
And within that blaze, a symbol of you.

[Semiotics of enlightened place: le jour does and does not = la lumière]

We’re grateful for Sister Lune and her stars: they are, in the sky you formed, lucid, Mohs would say ‘good nines’, and beautiful.

We’re grateful for Brother Vent, and for the air and its clouds, for the calm blue and all seasons;

It is your grace which enlivens all creatures.

Loué sois-tu - a subjunctive which leaves gratitude up to you
Thank you, Lord Seigneu-se,
For our Sister Eau, who is of great use and humility and preciousness and chastity.

My Lord Ma Seigneu-se

For our mother, Sister La Terre, who carries us, nourishes us, who produces the diversity of fruits, the glistening rainbow of flowers and plains.

For those who, with love for you, forgive; who withstand ordeals and illnesses:
They conserve peace
Because
Their heads are crowned with knowledge of you.

For our Sister Mort Corporelle escaped by no living one. There is misery for those who die in weighted mortality. But she can’t surprise fate: a second death cannot harm anyone.

Praise and consecrate this. Leave it in grace and serve it in full humility.
