Gather these thorns

Flavio Ferraro

Raccogli queste spine,
lucenti come raggi,
per farne corona
nei tempi oscuri:
come ad Eleusi, guardando
il Sole a mezzanotte.
Non ha porte il tempio
—ora lo sai—
abbandona ogni sentiero.

Gather these thorns,
shining like rays,
to make a crown with them
in the dark times:
as at Eleusis, beholding
the Sun at midnight.
The temple has no doors
—now you know—
abandon every path.
