gardening with celebrity obituaries after late-season heatwave

everbearing fruit is accidental - - a tart companion to celebrity
obituaries - - i use for distraction - - star died without achieving
[her] final wish
- - strawberries grow themselves - - take all the
space i give - - i built the garden beds by hand - - certain my
brief stint farming would translate to dirt - - seven dozen egg
shells - - melted toy cars and singed batteries - - botany - -
standing in - - ambition standing in - - for certainty - - a dining
destination, dies
- - in the exact same way - - i want bounty
where none appears - - a recessive gene for colonialism - - i
can’t bear the short season - - and my dirty hands - - please let
me find surety - - and by that i mean i don’t know how to ripen
- - the science is messy - - leave behind the craving for full
exposure - - sunsunsun me - - no apologia with seeded teeth -
- but a hand i raise above the soil - - commands of
effortlessness - - and i look for the bright spot - - red to solve
most [sic] things - - what should i sing to my plants, disco
queen
? - - i don’t want the world to suffer - - my legacy - - a
reckoning without noun - - a postdisaster future sunk into
sugar index - - gloves protect me from thorns - - the bite of
carelessness - - how [my] shade impoverishes - - pushed closer
to returning what was taken - - lime-sulfur - - aggression
banned - - sending out new blindness - - my people’s rich
tradition of insurgency - - a canto recited without diaphragm
- - these mouths are meant for want simply - - a shipwreck
thinned by a bayou’s slow devour - - nobody tells you how to
remove what’s spent - - that without deadheading - - i don’t
have what’s needed - - where else are you going to get that kind
of love?
- - no colors make red it just is - - said another way - -
primary is the earliest beginning - - a newborn unready for its
practice breath - - from a dark center - - shockwaves - - i have
outgrown the notion of a safe distance - - i let summer rain do
away - - buds i didn’t earn - - past perfect - - a study of earlier
- - [          ] had made audiences amused and uncomfortable - -
bolt bloat - - impossible to carry a single thought towards the
stem - - and everything that came before it
